Hi SoCal-
My college roomate was from Victorville (and another schoolie was from Helendale). One night while I was visiting he said let's go see a movie. We got in his mother's 1960's Plymouth Sport Fury, pointed it toward San Bernadino and put a brick on the gas pedal. Woosh!!! Across the desert for 38 miles in under 25 minutes. After 10 minutes of no real points of reference it felt like we were just standing still except for the sound of the motor and the occasional rise we crested. I still smile when I think of it.
