Crank pulley keyway damage
I'm looking at buying a 1st gen legacy wagon, and wondering if there's any way to properly/safely repair a keyway from the crank pulley coming loose and damaging the keyway. In the ad, the person says it would need a replacement shortblock or at least the crank replaced. Just wonder if anyone knows of anyway to make a repair and have it last?
Thanks in advance |

hahaha, I'd be looking at keeping it for awhile, probably as a winter car.

Re: Crank pulley keyway damage
It depends on how much damage is done. You can get a new key and either loctite it in or weld it in. If the engine is on it's last leg you could just weld the pulley on

Re: Crank pulley keyway damage
Did that on my 56 Chevy. Just a spot weld . Poor guy that got it after me ruined his wheel puller trying to get it off to change the timing chain. All u do is grind the small weld bead with a dremel tool
