Found a home for the 85 XT

A young man stopped by last night and asked about the XT Turbo.
I was getting desperate for a place to store it and had been kicking the idea around to send it to the press.
I gave him a rediculous low price. ($100.) It would bring $300. at the press at todays prices.
I told him that he can't crush it. He has to fix it or bring it back.
Later I saw his facebook page and he had put a silver XT on his profile pic!

Does this mean that 1992 SVXs will be given away for $100 in 7 years? That's a painful thought!!!

This car sat behind the garage of the guy that bought it 'new' for over 10 years because the mechanic LIED to him. (the mechanic said that a head was blown and it would cost $900. to fix it)
It sat there till the 'junk' price went through the roof! A guy bought the car for the 'junk' price going. He traded the car to another guy, that put a battery in it and started it.
It ran fine, so he drove it on a 'transporter' tag till he came to my shop in it and needed to haul a windshield home. It would not fit, so I traded a Subaru Station wagon to him so he could haul the windshield. The only problem I found with the car was that it needed a THERMOSTAT!
I took the car to the airport and kicked the SNOT out of it!
The guy that bought it 'new' was there watching.
The last thing he said that day was, "you did nothing to the car and it works fine".
He started HATING the subaru mechanics that LIED to him 14 years ago , so they could pick his pocket! He LOVED that car! He paid $28,000 for it!
He let it ROT for over a decade because a SUBARU mechanic LIED to him! Then he 'junked' it!

I WISH that I had found it 14 years sooner! It would be in a LOT better shape!
GET second OPINIONS!! This car almost went to the crusher because a SUBARU mechanic LIED to the guy!
The mechanic said it needed $900. worth of 'work' that a $4.00 part repaired!
14 years later!
Unfortunately, the raveges of time beat her down pretty bad!
