Got pulled over last night... lost my license..

I got pulled over last night on the way back from my cousins party in the good town of Ridgeley. It was nearly 2:00am andi got pulled over in my girlfriends Sonata for her headlight being out.

Well after he harrassed me and my passengers for about 10 minutes, he went back to his car for 15 minutes and finally called me back to his cruiser and informwd me that I wasn't gettong my license back. I asked him why and he informed me that my license was SUSPENDED!

It seems that I failed to appear at court when I was never informed of it. I got pulled over a while ago for expired tags and I think that might be it. I requested a waiver but never got a court date notification in the mail so is there any way for me to fight this?

Its only a $60.00 fine but id like to not have to pay I and I need my license. Any info is appriciated..

maybe you just have to pay for the fine and get your license back!

it's hard to fight with the cops and win.

it's your job to keep your tag and inspection updated...

it's your responsibility to find out your court date and etc.

was it lost in the mail and etc?

I find that begging, pleading and/or crying is a worthwhile tactic. Who can survive without a car nowadays, you need to get to work to pay that fine. Most police officer do have hearts for those who show remorse for their mistakes.

Here in WA State, they would want you back on the road to get more tickets to help support the state.

Go to the police station/court house tomorrow and pay the fine, this way you'll get your license and be on your merry way...otherwise you'll start a long drawn out process which will inevitably result in you paying the fine anyway and being without your license that whole time.

At least you didn't get a DUI. Burnt headlights are the biggest heat score.

Guess that'll have to do. It just bugs the hell out of me that I was never aware or notified of a court dat especially considering I got new tags the day after me getting pulled over for them being expired.

Well, next time this happens you should contact the courthouse in the city you got the ticket if you have not heard anything after a week. Some counties/cities in washington actually require you contact the courthouse afterwards (within 14 days). Failure to do so results in a soft warrant for your arrest, and/or suspended liscense.

Yip, especially at 2am on a weekend. Go to the courthouse, pay your fine and be nice about it. As for the expired tag, why would you want or even ask for a waiver unless you had been legal and it just didn't arrive in the mail in tim? Guilty is guilty. Pay it and zpologize for wasting their time when they could have been giving idiots like me speeding tickets.

Alright fellers. Thanks for the sound advice. Guess this is another one of those lessons learmed kind of things. Looks like its time to go to the courthouse cause I need my license.

If you were ticketed for driving on a suspended license, paying the $60 fine might just get you even; your license may remain suspended, owing to the original infraction of missing a court date.

Sorry to hear about your run in with the local government, think the only solution is to pay the fine. I believe that local governments are cutting back on services due to budgetary problems and situations like this result. While making a rental car reservation last week I discovered that my license was expired; as of January 1, Utah no longer notifies drivers that their licenses will expire in the coming year. In addition, one can no longer renew via mail but must appear in person which has something to do with meeting Federal guidelines. Bottom line is that we must all be more responsible and careful dealing with the powers that be.

Look at the up side, it's only a fine and you will be driving soon.
