Adjusting Nut Size On The Rack
Anybody with a rack?
Does anyone have the steering rack out? I am looking for the size of the nut, the big hex, that gets loosened to tighten up the steering. A special wrench is need to do this and I think I can make it for less than Subaru wants to charge. Thanks John Last edited by svx_commuter; 06-06-2002 at 05:11 AM. |

Oh.... STEERING racks. Sorry, I thought we somehow got off on the topic of motivational techniques in a Turkish prison.
Never mind. Ron

Sorry - I've adjusted mine with the rack out, of the car, so I did not have the clearence problem. You could always disconnect the steering linkage and rotate the rack around it's axis to get a better access to the nut. I am not sure how far it will rotate, especially with tie rods attached, but rotation is a part of standard removal procedure...

Do you happen to remember what size the LOCKNUT was?
I would have to disconnect the hoses to rotate it. Right? Did you rebuild your rack? How is your transmission running? |
