A few key things to check. 1st of all drive the snot out of it before you buy it. Don't set out to break it, but DO be a bit rough on it. Since it has an odd wheel/tire on it you can't check for torque bind. Just be aware, that could rear it's ugly head once you get new tires. If it runs, drives & shifts well, then by ALL MEANS buy it. Torque bind is fixable.
A little duct tape will hold that airbag in place, at least until you can get the new steering wheel installed. You also need to replace the crash switch.
For $1g be prepared to have to spend some money on it. It doesn't sound like you'll need to spend a ton of cash though. Be prepared, as these cars are notoriously expensive to repair. Especially if you have to hire the work done.

Having said that, I don't want to talk you out of it. I'm just being realistic, and honest.

No, no

I thank you for your concern and advice.

Like i said, the guy wants a grand for a car that is really nice but looks terrible because of small fenderbenders him and his son got into.

Other than that the car was driven very little because the husband and wife have their primary cars. (they bought the SVX in 94 off the showroom)

I just want this car as a daily forthe winter.

in spring when the DSM is road ready (track ready), I will either sell this or keep it.

Yes 1000 is a lot of money, but for an SVX that runs and drives fine is what im looking at.

yeah thats the one

very nice family

took good care of the car
but thats expected of a car that barely used
15 years old and only 102K
thats 6800 miles a year!

tell ya what.
when I fix the body and replace the airbag and module ill sell it to you for a good price.

its the least i could do for a member of a nice, welcoming comunity.

as well as i only need this as a winter car, so it would be better had by someone who will love it even more than i will.

**** **** Damn CRAP!!!!

I knew this was going to happen!
No the car didnt get sold already.

As it turns out, someone on the local DSM board wants to sell his 93 Talon TSi AWD for 1,800.
Minimal mods to get it in the low 13's
No rust or body damage

Why does these things always happen to me?
Im supposed to buy that SVX later today!

Tell me what you think.

So would this be worth it for 1G as a winter car?

Thanks,
Mike
This has the potential to be a very bad deal. I remember one member on here with a very nice SVX took a low-speed slide on ice in his SVX and hit a curb. The subframe was bent and left the car with incorrect geometry.

The impact in this case here was hard enough to break the wheel and set off the airbag. I would have to be certain that the rear suspension was straight and perfect before I would part with a dollar.

Also, saying he could easily ask $3000 is hard sell technique. In fact he could easily ask $10,000! It's what he would actually get that is the important figure here.

I would be very wary of buying that car, and I'm an SVX buying FOOL!
