You accidentally hit the FSS (for sale sensor) with the sign. I've done it a few times actually. I've thought about selling the car, something goes wrong, then as soon as I decide to keep it, it starts working again.

Follow the advice you were given about the TPS, it is sure to be the problem here. In fact, from your description of the changing "moods" of the car I would not be surprised if your TPS is loose. The TPS is not adjusted or set properly. The voltages the ECU is seeing from the TPS are incorrect for the throttle opening, and speed of opening, so the gas mix is not burning properly, and likely this is fooling the ECU into thinking your O2 sensors are bad. Do the adjustment, or replace, the TPS first. This should give you correct driveability. Do a reset on the ECU codes after sorting out the TPS. Then drive it and check for stored codes. If you don't get the codes for the O2 sensors, they are probably OK. [Incidentally, when you get BOTH O2s showing codes, it often means some other parameters are incorrect at the ECU. If you think about it, under the normal state of wear and tear, it would be reasonable to expect one of them to break or degrade, but not both at the same time] Although anything's possible Joe

Yeah thats what I was thinking about both o2 sensers going at the same time. I will try fixing the TPS and will post back if that works. Might be until this weekend until I get a chance though. Thanks

But you never know. Sometimes in older cars, a number of components fail. Keeps us guessing. Joe

Best of luck with it. At least, when you have that checked, you can eliminate that suspect from your enquiries.

Well I tested the TPS outside of the SVX (disconnected and removed) It seems to go up and down in ohms accordingly so maybe it was out of adjustment on the throttle body. If thats so I dont know how because it was not loose and some one had previously marked the TPS and it was still in position. This problem was pretty sudden after 7,000 miles. I am beginning to think it might be something else but I still have to check at the ECU to make sure everything is a o k

you need to check voltage on it not resistance. If you use a jumper check the voltage on the middle wire going to the TPS. The wire should be white. You should read .5v at idle

Power Mode.
The way the power mode works, is the Tcu looks at the TPS to tell how much load is applied to the engine. This affects what gear change map, the Tcu uses for the changes. Changes at a lower road speed on light throttle, higher road speed on full throttle. For power mode, the Tcu looks at how fast the signal on the TPS line changes, if it exceeds a certain rate, it will use the Power Mode map.
For the Power Mode to engage, the voltage on the TPS line has to rise quickly, to a higher voltage. This can happen if the carbon track on the TPS has a break in it, or a spot that has worn out. When the wiper gets to this spot, the voltage rises due to the open circuit, and Power Mode is engaged. This can also be due to the TPS line to the Tcu going open circuit. The TPS line going high will also cause the AWD to bind on light throttle turns. Harvey.

well I dont have anyway to test it until my dad can help me out so I decided to just try and adjust it by guess. I adjusted it just a hair or two in one direction and then in the other from where it was origanally marked. I think its close now cuz I drove home with no real incident but I didnt get to go full throttle or anything because it started snowing at about 1:00 pretty good and I was tinkering between breaks at work. I think the real solution is to get a new TPS but its like 200 dollars that I dont have.

ahhhhh
Well I replaced the TPS and still the check engine code came on so I thought I would try adjusting it and when I checked white wire and ground the voltometer was showing 1.50 and as I adjusted it only went from 1.4ish to 1.8ish no 0.5v no way no how. So what do I do now??? why wouldnt it show 0.5v or anywhere near 0.5? I cleared codes and am going to run it again to see if anything comes up the power mode thing hasnt happened so maybe the new tps fixed that but maybe there is something else throwing both 02 sensor codes?
