This NL East race is insane....the marlins who were in first at the start of the weekend are now in last place....which means nothing because their 1.5 games out. Go phils!

Damn...phills lost 10-8..pitching is struggling again but hey its only one game. 1.5 games out...every team in the NL east is over .500!. The yankees lost again...this time to the brew crew....lotta ppl here talkin about torre gettin fired because he's not quite the motivator he used to be. I personally dont like this team...its just fake and not full of true yankees....guys like bernie...and jeter and tino...and matingly..guys like paul o'neil...u know true yankees. One guy says to me at work " there where they should be...in 4th place...you cant win with 3 ..40 year old pitchers."

Phills win again...bobby abreu came thru in the clutch hitting a 2 run blast. Yankees down again 2-0 in the 8th.....joe torre is history after this road trip

I have it on good authority that Mt. George is going to EXPLODE. The eruption will probably take place this weekend.

I think that good 'ole Georgie Porgie will more than likely fire Brian Cashman than Joe Torre. Even though I am a die-hard Red Sox fan I will say this: Joe Torre is one of the classiest individuals ever in MLB. The Yanks are now seeing that it's not how much you spend but, how you spend it ( so are the sox)

I personally love joe torre....he is the yankees to me. But i think georgie is getting sick of joe's laid back style of managing. I think he wants someone whos going to be loud and yelling...kinda like larry bowa was for us .

To make the postseason you'll have to win the AL east with Minnesota and Chicago playing like they are. I'm hoping Baltimore can hang on.

Baltimore is for real. I think they can definitley hang on the rest of the way. One of two things will happen with the yanks....either this will be a catastrophic failure of a season.....or they will turn this around at some point and win the world series and keep that ****ty yankee mystique

We are a starter and a middle reliever away from being OK. We can hang on, but it's gonna be close. I hope we can get some pitching at the trade deadline. It's all we need. Position players are fine, especially when Javy Lopez gets back behind the plate. We did get the top ranked catcher in the draft at #13. He was supposed to go in the top 10. His dad was a major league pitcher.

Wow I never thought I would say this but Ed Wade made a very good trade. Phillies deal placido polanco to the tigers for philly native ramon martinez and UGETH URBINA ...we got an awesome reliever for our struggling bullpen and kept him away from the braves and the marlins. Good Job ed wade. I bet billy wagner is on the trading block now. Let the race for first begin....im as excited as ever right now! This also means chase utley will get into the starting role and will begin his hall of fame career...you heard it hear first

I can't figure out why the Tigers traded Urbina for only Polanco. Urbina is a very good pitcher. Something is not kosher here. Maybe there is something wrong with his arm. I hope that the Phillies med staff checks him out thoroughly.
Glad to see that you have something to cheer you up re the Phillies. They have been playing pretty good ball lately.

It looks like a very, very long season for me. I'm waiting for Mt. George to explode.

Alot of people in the MLB dont know alot about polanco. He was actually our most solid hitter. He can play any position in the infield and he was solid at each. He also was batting over .300 and has some pop in his bat. I would much rather the phillies trade david bell instead of polanco. But this move will mean we finally get to see if chase utley is the real deal or not. Phillies fans LOVE chase. If all goes well this should be one of the best 1,2 punches in baseball. Urbina in the 8th....and Wagner in the 9th. Wagner is a Free Agent at the end of the year so this move might also be preparing for that because if they realize they can't resign wagner then we can unload him before the deadline for more help or something of that nature.

Well the yankees played exactly how they should be playing all season against the brewers last night. Mt. George's erruption will be postponed. But if the yanks lose 2 out of 3 to the cardinals ( im predicting they get swept ) then you will see the erruption thru the weekend.

How about the Davids last night in the sox/ cards game? Wells finally did something good. I think that baltimore is the real deal too and I have to agree with the fact that you have to win the east to make the play-offs. I don't see the yankees turning things around unless a MAMMOTH blockbuster trade is worked that would really shake things up in the club house. The sox should be fine once Schilling gets healthy, Foulke gets his form back, and Manny starts hitting. I think that the east will be a great battle down to the end of September between the sox and the orioles. Think about a rotation for the second half of the year with Schilling, Wells (the Wells we saw last night), Wade Miller, Arroyo (one of the most underrated starters in baseball, trust me), and Matt Clement. That's a darn good rotation. That bumps wakefield to the bullpen but, I think that's where he's better anyway. Then this is how I would do the line-up: Damon, Renteria, Bellhorn, Manny, Ortiz, Varitek, Millar, Nixon, Mueller. Olerud would get spot starts and come in for a defensive replacement in the late innings.
