Just add a little. Gas prices should be down soon. OPEC just announced they will ramp up production to replace the loss we sustained and Venezuela is sending us humanitarian aid and free crude oil! Talk about customer service.

BTW: You know what France and Germany have offered? A letter of sympathy.

Oh and one other thing. Have the Bush hating Kerry lovers ask why we still can't tap into North Alaskan crude reserve that have been compared to Caspian reserves in size and quality. The pipeline built in the 1970's has been a picture perfect example of nature and industry working together. The pipeline evn has moose and elk crossings where it goes up in the air. Cut waste, cut use, cut foreign dependency, but also increase domestic supply. That's a sound fuel strategy for the nest 50 years.

Isn't Venezuela the country that, with no provocation, promised to kick our ass if the US ever decides to invade their country? It was completely out in left park, since I haven't heard about any chances for a pre-emptive strike there.

Either way, I won't complain about the aid.

I'm guessing we're holding back and waiting for OPEC to run dry before we tap that. Don't know if it'll work, but that's my guess.

I may live in Germany, but I'll always remain Canadian.

EDMONTON (CP) - Canadian officials have started getting ready to send whatever type of aid the United States requires to help with the aftermath of hurricane Katrina, Deputy Prime Minister Anne McLellan said Wednesday.
"We want to reassure the president and the people of the United States that we are their best friends and their neighbour, and we will be there to help them in a situation that truly is without parallel in our country or theirs," said McLellan.
"Yesterday, the Department of Human Health Services in the U.S. contacted our public health agency and asked for an inventory of emergency supplies that, if they need them, we could send at a moment's notice."
That inventory was completed Wednesday.
American officials are still assessing their needs, but in coming days Canada will be prepared to send everything from water purification systems to the Canadian military's Disaster Assistance Response Team.
Asked by reporters about the effect of Katrina on the Canadian economy - such as sharply higher oil prices as a result of supply disruptions - McLellan acknowledged there could be an impact but stressed she wants to focus on the human tragedy of the disaster at this moment.
Federal Finance Minister Ralph Goodale didn't put any limits on the financial or in-kind contributions Canada could make to the rescue and reconstruction efforts.
"If we've got it, and the Americans need it, obviously, we'll be there," he told the Regina Leader-Post.

The smart thing would be for the US Government to be drilling and selling the oil to the the refineries. Talk about tax relief! But knowing our politicians, they'd find a way to make it COST the taxpayers money to run it.

That's it. Time to start naming names, if only my congressman would get off his secretary and answer the phone.

Our gas just went to CAD$1.199 per liter.

That works out to USD$3.83/USGal

No. Not at all. It would be like the Postal Service, Amtrak, Greyhound Buses, or any other company that is independent from the Govt. and subsidized by our tax dollars "for the good of the people" except this one might actually generate revenue

As a concept, I like socialism. Unfortunately, there is not a single human being that could get it right without getting corrupted, or lazy.

I think the ultimate solution would be for everyone to just accept me as supreme ruler of the world. How could I do any worse than the current world leaders??
