You beat out a Camaro SS? Don't tell Shadow...he'll tell you the guy must have fallen asleep at the line as Camaro-Bird's are FASTAR!!! -Chike P.S. When you ran 15.4 on 107 octane in your former '92 SVX, what was the break down of your run? 60ft, 1/8th mile and trap speed?

yes stock cluch still it decided to hold and i was launching at lower rpms around 5,000 rpm
my old svx runs do be honest i dont rember,, maybe 92 on the traps and i think 2.3 60' s im not to sure though, i wish i kept that damm time slip i rember it was on a really cold night and i also learned whene i power braked the svx it ran slower times also the camaro ss ran awsome, he just got breat , he did a 2.0 '60 wich is pretty damm good for RWD and he traped out at 105 also but also i ran a 13.3 with the stock turbo also =>

SVXfiles and myself have done a lot of testing with launches and our best times are consistently returned by power braking the car up to the 2500rpm stall and then flooring it. On a slower 15.33 run, I cut a 2.17 60ft time which is my best launch to date. If I launched from idle, my 60ft times would be in the 2.3-2.4 range which kills your final et. Best of luck with the WRX. Glad your clutch is still holding up to the abuse... -Chike

The guy must have fallen asleep at the line as Camaro's are fastAR!! Good run solar. How come you only seem to race Camaro's? The last two runs you posted here happened to be against camaro's too. A 13.3 @ 105mph with a 2.0ft 60' is good for an average driver. Actually that is almost exactly the "average" f-body run. Want to try a modded f-body? Let me know. |

On street tires, a 2.0 60ft was the best launch I could ever get with my SVT Lightning. I think the Camaro driver did a reasonably good job of lanching a rwd car with that much hp, but solar's awd launch was sweet which gave him the edge... -Chike

shadow, just how i ran that night i dont pick the races i raced a 300zx and a few hondas but only ones put up a fight was the chevy's =>
and 2.0 60' is pretty decent not sure if he was on steet drags or not. i wish i can start cuting 1.60 60' times without breaking anything would be nice, on stock street tires shadow if u want i can scan the slip in for your veiwing pleasure

Thing is factory stock V8 Camaros and Firebirds only had 245 sized rubber (unlike the 275's on the SS and Firehawk). It's kinda hard to hook up that much torque off the line on such minimal rubber. -Chike

Goodyear F1 275 - 13.2 sec, 2.0-2.2 60' Nitto 555R Drag Radials - 13.0 sec, 1.8-2.0 60' Drag Slicks - 12.8 sec, 1.7-1.8 60' That's for a bone stock car and a driver who knows his/her car. Take the stock car on goodyears that runs 13.2 and put on a catback and aftermarket airlid and you'll drop 0.2 sec easily. Beyond that, it's anybody's guess. A well planned, "lightly" modded car (ex - Catback, long tubes, airlid, ported MAF and a 220-224 cam) should EASILY break into mid or even low 12's. Unless of course it was not tuned properly. Hell my cam is a 224 with only a 115 lsa and I should be running very low twelves or even high 11's when i hit the track this spring. Guys with "T-Rex" cams (230+ and 112-110 lsa) and stock heads are seeing mid to high 10's. Wouldn't want to drive those cars on the street though, or pay for gas. |
