Post How often do you change your oil?

Since buying my car in April, she's seen 4 oil changes in the 6K miles I've put on her. I'm therefore averaging an oil change every 1.5-2K miles, which I feel is good insurance for a car I take to the dragstrip...

What's does everyone else around here do?

-Chike

P.S. I run regular blend oil as my crankshaft seals get a slow leak with synthetic. Designed my poll to accomodate for those members who use synth in their cars which has a longer mileage life...

I didn't want to make my poll too extensive...

For instance by 1-2K, I meant from 1,000 miles up to 2,999 miles. So if you changed your oil every 2.5K miles you'd fall in that category.

I guess I should have been more clear...

Semisynthetic every 3k, sometimes let it go a few hundred miles past before I get around to it.

I use a synthetic/regular blend and change around 2,500 miles to 3,000.

I admit I'm not religous when it comes to changing my oil. Often I don't remember to keep track of the current mileage when I change the oil.

I'm sure I've had 12000kms on a single change.

I always use Mobil1 Synthetic.

Thirty-five hundred to 4000 miles for me, with conventional Havoline 10W40, the only oil I've ever used in anything. I keep meticulous records and aim for 3500, anyway, but always end up procrastinating for a week or two.

Honestly, I suspect we've all to some degree caved to the motor oil party line. After all, Subaru's warranty requirement is a generous 7,500 interval. (Granted, that's through the first 60,000 miles, and it makes sense to change more frequently as a car ages.) Have to give the oil companies credit for superb advertising.

Everyone changes the filter each time? That's probably more important than changing the oil.

Well, you don't have a spot for synthetic blend, so I chose regular every 3-4k. I prefer Valvoline Durablend. As a related question, what brand filter does everyone use?

I change mine. Wouldn't want the filter to become clogged and allow gunk to ruin my engine. For $5, changing it each time is a must!

I'd like to know as well. 7 quarts of Mobil 1 10W-30 ran me close to $30 at Walmart the one time I put it in my car. I definitely couldn't afford to do an oil change at that price every month!

Mobil 1, every 5-7k, depending on how 'good' I've been (ie, not speeding).

I do 3-4K miles and change w/ mobil 1. I used to do every 1.5K w/ mobil 1 too...but I feel that it was all to often given the cost.

Heres a random question of the day.. does mileage come from "mile" and if so.. if you measure distance in Kilometers.. is it still mileage?

Anywho.. i change with regular oil ever 3000 miles... just like yu'r suppozed ta.
