car is revving by itself...

Today i was driving home, and it was raining and windy. When my foot was on the accelerator, the car seemed to rev and go down again. The rpm would be at 2000 but then it would go higher and back down by itself even if i was applying a steady force on the accelerator. If it's a sign of a dying transmission (knocks on wood), I am gonna get facked.

Or i was thinking maybe it was just the wind and i was pushing a lil on the accelerator..

Was it cold out? It could've just been the torque converter locking and unlocking.

How fast were you going and what gear were you in? Mine does this occasionally in the 1-2 shift but the problem is seldom and hasn’t gotten any worse with time.

sounds more like it was shifting from drive to 3rd than back to drive. mine will do this if i'm just holding the throttle staedy to maintain speed. if im coasting or accelerating it does not do it. My problem is the tps needs changing. when it does it shift right into 3rd and see if the rpms stay constant whith what they went up to. I run my car in 3rd with the manual button ingaged to hold it in 3rd when it won't stay in drive.

At highway speeds, the TC on my car locks in and out all the time when its around 40-60 F outside. The ATF temp goes up, the TC locks, the ATF temp then goes down because there is less heat being generated, and then the TC unlocks. The cycle just repeats on and on. I've watch the temp cycle on my ATF temp gauge.
