Gas Smell

It seems that whenever I have just filled up on Gas, I get a strong gas smell in the car... any ideas?

This has happened to me when I've "overfilled." Don't "top off" the tank. There are explicit instructions in the manual that say not to give the pump those few extra squeezes you're used to giving, after the pump shuts off. I can't recall why, but, I remember reading the statement shortly after I bought the car.

Re: Re: Gas Smell

My theory is that liquid gasoline can get into the evaporative line, and block it up. The evap line runs out of the top of the tank, just underneath the trunk floor.

That's my guess anyways.

As for RSVX's problem, check for leaks where the fuel and evap lines exit the tank. Remove the carpet from the back of the rear seat, and there's 4 screws that hold the access panel to the top of the tank.

I've never 'topped off' a tank. I don't understand why people do that. You're just asking to get gas sprayed all over you.

Speaking of gas sprayed all over you - ever topped off a diesel?
Aaagghhh!

But - I always fill my tank fully every time and usually fill it right up to the cap- especially on long trips. That way I can make Kim's bladder suffer even longer between stops.
