Fire Wall Question

Has anyone removed the pad or blanket on the firewall? I was looking around my engine bay today and never really noticed it was there. Just wondering if there was any extra noticeable noise with it removed or interior heat. Are there holes or pass throughs that could be patched/plugged or welded if it was removed?

Any flex in the stock hood with internal hood padding removed?

Oh and I did try the search just didn't find anything on either item.

Re: Fire Wall Question

You'd probably end up with a lot of extra heat and noise inside the car, and the footwell is a pretty warm spot already.

Re: Fire Wall Question

Just hoping to remove what may not be necessary. When the engine comes out tomorrow I will look at it closer to see. Just wasn't sure if others have done it for racing builds and noticed more heat or noise (not that they care) or if having the mat there holds/retains water causing rust issues just anything in general. I was just curious but really isn't a big deal. The hood isn't since I plan to go to the fiberglass one after engine is re-installed so the flex/noise on the stock hood was also me being curious. Thanks for the response pilot.
