*..Stereo Install Problems?..*

Hi, I installed my panasonic cd/mp3 player and had to cut out the factory svx stereo plug and hard wire it according to the diagram in the how tos folder. Well, got everything done and it all sounds great and I'm glad to be done. That was last night in my garage and I tested it all out and it was good to go...or so I thought....tonight, I turned on my lights for the first time and viola......no sound! If i turn off the lights and ignition and then turn just the ignition back on...viola, I get sound back, but only till I turn on the lights again and then viola, no sound. I am wondering if it might be that I hooked up the wrong Red/Black wire(as there are 2 of them, one for left rear - and one for Ilumination A) and so when i turn on the lights that causes the sound to go out. Thats my thoughts, what do you guys think?

Ken

you can also check this site about halfway down the page it has the wiring chart and how to tell the red and black wires apart.

Well, all is well......I went home and took the stereo back out, switched the red/black wire with the other and viola...all fixed. Hopefully this thread will help someone else out if they are having the same problem. Thanks

Good to hear you've figured it out. The easiest way to install an aftermarket stereo in the SVX is with the custom wiring harness made by another member. (svxdc)
