Significant Technical Input Registered SVX
High Pressure PS Hose

I just thought I'd let everyone know my new SVX had a REALLY bad PS leak from the high pressure PS hose (yeah the one RIGHT over the Pass side Cat ...made it smoke like a steam engine going down the road )....
Anyway to the point....
I had a local Car/Truck Parts place (that has parts for big trucks) rebuild the HI-side PS hose, cost me $35...MUCH cheaper than a new Subaru hose, and cheaper than a used one generally goes for

So, check out your local shops, might save you some money, as I knmow this hose is becoming an issue as the SVX gets older.

It is a bit of a PITA to install, but do-able....
Hope this helps some members who might have the same problem.

Thanks Huck! I also found a local shop that'll make s.s. brake lines that have metal bracket that don't heat up and break for about $75 for the set. Its amazing what you can find if you only know where to look!

Good tip. A nearby auto parts/machine/hydraulics shop made a high-pressure PS hose for my '68 Mustang years ago, and I'll probably go see the same guys the next time I need one on any car.

The Mustang's hose let go all over the exhaust manifold and, yes, PS fluid does burn. I resolved that day to start carrying a fire extinguisher in the trunk (but never did).

That's exactly what I did with mine. Not sure how much it cost though.

I'll look into that too. It beats the price that they get for a new one.

I paid for a new hose, from the dealer, before I snapped to my senses. Unfortunately it was too late. Having a hose made is definately the way to go.
