Because that would be a waste of time... The engine in the Forester XT is essentially an STi engine. There are diffrences, but they are all pretty much bolt on.... Diffrent ECU, Smaller turbo, Smaller intercooler, diffrent cams... The engine it's self though is essentially an STi engine. Find yourself an STi ECU from a wrecked one (should be easy to find), buy an IHI VF-34 turbo, while ya are at it with the wrecked STi yank the intercooler and cams.... Then ya should be set... Ofcorse, If ya really wanted to make it look like an STi motor, just get the plastic red intake manifold

I think Subaru confused some people outside the "know" by using XT again.

yeah i wasn't sure which one he2 ment so i kept my mouth shut. the company said that the sti engine will bolt on to any 1.3 2.0 2.2 or 2.5 since the xt came with a four banger in some modles it should work. and this is a complete kit with engine management included the cheepest one is like 1200 i think with 240 hp. not bad at all the link is somewhare in this post.

No actually the trans in the xt's are based on the EA series not the EJ series so it is not a direct bolt on but there are adapter plates now being made.

If your putting a 240+hp motor in it, I would swap to a STi 6 speed anyway. You'd also appriciate the bigger axel shafts as well if you can get them.
