Unhappy Got Wet Paint On My Car

I guess wherever I was driving yesterday had some freshly painted lines on the street. When I went to wash it yesterday, I saw white paint on my black car. Lil splash dots everywhere. Anyone ever have this problem? How do you get rid of it, if at all?

Also, does anyone know how much Subaru touch up paint costs and if it's available online? Thanks.

I've successfully removed paint of this type by dabbing a rag with WD-40 (no, it won't hurt the paint). Just don't let it sit too much longer, or the paint will set up.

You should be able to order touch-up paint from Subaruparts.com or 1stsubaruparts.com, or, go to http://www.paintscratch.com/

Must have been a S. Jersey/Philly thing. I washed and waxed my '96 today and discovered dozens of white paint spots. Some came off using a popsicle stick, many look like they are in for the long haul. $%*@!!!

I'll try the WD-40 trick.

Oh, ye of little faith. Do you think I'd do anything to harm my Svxes? I've used WD-40 time and again to remove tar and paint spots, with no ill effects. Trust me. See, isn't this a face you can trust ------->

when i used to work at a carwash we just used kerosene to remove bugs and tar. if a customer asked what is was, we answered "some special space-age formula" - if we told them we were rubbing kerosene on their car they'd probably get freaked out. you can trust El Presidente. i think.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Alan. I learned the kerosene trick at my uncle's service station, but, most people have WD-40 around the house. Plus, it "sounds" a little less "harsh" than, "slap some coal oil (the southern terminology for kerosene ) on it, that'll take care of it." Of course, in the south, "coal oil" is a cure all for just about everything: dandruff, mange on dogs, sore joints, chafing .

Randy, thanks for suggesting it, but that's exactly why it made me nervous (exactly what you just posted). Doesn't mean I won't try it.

Also, thanks for suggesting that site. I ordered the paint from there today.
