Rebuilt tranny for Hyundi Excel

Manual or Auto?

If its a manual I would simply suggest getting one from a yard. Check out www.car-parts.com I would doubt it would weigh more than 100lbs. Since its a Hyundi I would suspect you can get a used manual with decent miles for around $200. You may run into problems for a 94 as I think that was during their lean times when everyone stayed away after the first one's had some reliability issues. An auto is another subject. I don't know if I'd trust one from a yard unless I got to look at it and the fluids in it.

Hyundai Hyundai

Assuming you could put one in yourself wouldn't it be cheaper to try to find a low mileage Excel to swape with or just buy and drive? $1300 although not a lot of money in tranny senses is a lot for a car with a wholesale value of maybe $500 if running well and looking decent. Now if the car is a driver other than that it may be worth it just b/c you know its fine since its a crap shoot buying cars for under a $1000 or so. I've always been one who preferred spending no more than $500 for a beater.
