Re: Michael Jackson: Dead at 50

Despite his more recent controversies Michael Jackson was a legend and will be remembered forever, he is an international icon who transended all segments of our society. Musicians of today, in the same genre, can barely hold an ounce compared to Jackson. I am still in shock.

Re: Michael Jackson: Dead at 50

He was getting senile towards the end. He was spotted by the paparazzi at Wal-Mart and when asked why he was there he said "I heard Little boys pants were half off."

So where is the Farrah thread anyway?

Yeah, I like his music, especially the stuff from the 80s. He did get pretty weird towards the end, but there are a lot of artists out there that are "Weird" that make good music. As far as the allegations go, if he did something wrong, that's something he's got to answer for.

As for the jokes, I've gotten this one about 5 times today:

When Farrah Fawcett died and went to Heaven, God told her she got one wish. So she wished for all the children of the world to be safe, so God killed Michael Jackson.

Still weird he died... I'm gonna have to dust off my Laserdisc copy of "Thriller"

Re: Michael Jackson: Dead at 50

Oh jeeze I wish I had a $ for every MJ joke ive ever heard..... so so wrong Its still sad when someone dies...... if he DID do what he was accused of he will be answering for them now.... as far as the music, every time I hear "thriller" it brings back the 80's in a blink. He will be missed, sort of.

Thought the name was Middle Eastern... never knew that...

"Born Ferrah Leni Fawcett on February 2, 1947 in the US state of Texas, her father's Lebanese origins explains the somewhat unusual name (farah being an Arabic word for joy)."

I am well aware that the Earth is round, thank you. However, the person I was speaking to was also from the US, and also in the same timezone as I am. Thank you for your enlightening lesson.

On topic though: The jokes are going to get old so fast. They were stale to begin with, and now they're just going to continue. It is truly pathetic what society has done to this man, really.

He was likeable in his vulnerability, and his dance routines and a lot of his music defined the 80's. I see him as iconic, but he's no Elvis and no John Lennon.

Your statement about society doing something pathetic to him holds no water at all. Many of the major gossip routines about him [Bubbles, Elephant Man, Baby off Balcony] were initiated by MJ himself to stay in the public eye and perception. To me, the boot was on the other foot, his massive media machine embraced tabloid trash and attempted to manipulate the feelings of the general public. Sometimes he got it wrong, so if he was a genius, he was a flawed one.

Still sorry to hear of his passing though. He has nice kids and they have lost a father.

Joe
