vanity bulb
easies thing to check if its bulb is to swap the left and right sunvisor bulbs with each other. if the bulb worked ont heone side and not the other, most probably the wires broke.
I started out just wanting to replace the bulb myself, but ended up fixing the whole thing

posted msg, + questions
Have a few questions about this. What is the "pin" of the mounting bracket. Does the ounting braket include the part with the plastic peice?(krazyglued it permanently, going to be a bear to take apart if possible at all
Visor fix revisted Post 35222 Posted by nubsjr on 9/4/00 at 8:51 pm -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Since you guys got a laugh out of my last attempt for fixing a loose visor sometime back, I went back to drawing board to redeem myself. This might not work for everbody because the wires to my vanity mirror were already broke.Take visor off of the ceiling, you may be able to get the wires fished through the mounting bracket if you take them out of the plastic connector. Then hold the visor and with a twisting motion pull the mounting bracket out of the visor. This will take some effort but it will come out.Once out, clean all of the loose plastic out of the visor. Then on the pin of the mounting bracket find a piece of electical shrink wrap tubing the fits on as snugly as possible.Slip a piece over the pin leaving it a little longer so it melts over the end. After it cools off, push it back into the visor while twisting, it pushes in hard but take your time. The tighter it is the better it will stay up.When you get it in all the way, trim off any tubing that pushed out and reinstall. If it pushes on to hard I guess you could ream out the hole in the visor a little bit. I did this about a month ago and it works great.

here it is
http://www.svxwrx.com/
i moved to my own domain a while back word of warning, it seems what i did turned into a temporary fix, it came back for me and another member after a few weeks. make sure only your little plastic holder on the visor is loose, not that and the fact that your entire stem seems very loose.

Thanks for the tip.....actually right after i posted that reply, i was able to find your sight, and the instructions.
I hate to hear that that fix didn't work. I was all set to try to do it. I have to believe there is some way to fix it permantly. I wouldn't care so much, but it sags badly in my car and it really is a pain. I am willing to put good time/money into fixing it. Do you think a subaru dealer would be of any use?? Just so you don't get the wrong idea, I just bought my '92 and it is at the body shop now (already had radiator, tranny cooler, belts, etc. done at shop) and i get the car back thurs. or friday. I just want to fix the one last thing that really annoys me. I am still searching for a total success story. Will certainly follow up with you if i find one! Thanks again. |
