How many is too many?

Cylinders in a boxer engine in a car.... 2? 4? 6? 8? 12? even 16? Apparently Boxer engines have been known to get B I G and it seems Porsche was doing it. 5.4L H-12's making 1500hp, 5.0L's making a grand.... seems tempting... I think Subee should make a boxer powered super car.... take an SVX, make it mid engined with say.. a boxer 8 with twin turbo's and we've got a deal

Porsche 917's Boxer 16 from 1969

908's Boxer 8

Subaru came up with it's own flat-12:

It was used in Formula 1 for one season, but never completed a single race!

It has their brand name on it, but I wouldn't say Subaru built the engine - Motori Moderni did. When Subaru paid to have their name put on it and the Coloni F1 car, that engine was already several years old and not reliable in the least. It was an ill-conceived waste of FHI's money.

Also, notice that flat-16 at the top is air-cooled. Crazy.

Aside from being boxers, nothing.
But the top one is uber ugly and the other one is crapola.

EDIT: Read too fast. Thought you said engines instead of comments.

Those 917/30's were awesome!! Ate everything else on the track alive, until banned from Can Am.
