Whats with TireRack.com?

I've had nothing but good luck with them. Purchased 2 full sets of Continental Extreme Contact tires....which you can honestly not beat. I believe the first set I bought back in January were $87/each and when I reordered them late this summer they were on a special at $84/each. Both sets arrived on my door step 3 days after ordering.

So, I've been debating putting a set on my "new" Ebony '92 LS-L. I have a set of brand new summer tires but with the neverending snow in the Northeast....I decided that I might as well do it.

Two weeks ago they were out of stock and were not anticipating anymore until April. Now they have plenty in stock.....but they've jacked the price up to $104/ea.

I found that www.tiresavings.com has them for $87/each. The only thing keeping me from buying from them is their higher shipping prices. $50 for UPS Ground (from NYC to Erie, PA) compared to $37 for FedEx 2day (from South Bend Indiana to Erie, PA).

I guess my questions are:

Anyone here have luck with TireRack price matching competitors?

Anyone have an opinion on the Pirelli P Zero Nero M&S?

I'm definitely considering going with the Pirellis because of their survey ratings. They're cheaper than the ExtremeContacts right now. I'm torn because of having such good luck with the Contis but I'm not feeling all warm and fuzzy about the $70 price increase.

Thanks

my bro had the pirelli p zero nero m+s on his 97 legacy gt and he seemed to like them. but he only had them about 6 monthes until one of the sidewalls broke or something and they couldn't be repaired i guess.

i would imagine that if you liked the continentals the pirellis would be around the same results. I am needing to get new tires pretty soon as well and these are the two tires that i have it narrowed down to as well. I think i will end up getting whichever one is cheaper when i decide to buy them because they both seem like nice and comparible tires.

The deal is simple. Someone here said a while back that Continental's prices will jump as soon as the current stock runs out. The new batch will be higher. Continental's decision. Not tirerack's.
