That's a pretty cool job. And your employers are okay with you doing freelance stuff on the side? Nice. I have things like non-compete clauses and intellectual property agreements restricting me from doing a lot of stuff outside of work.

When you can, post pictures of the products you're working on.

"500 miles a day" was the catch phrase of the SVX in Japan. You can still feel comfortable even if you drive 500miles.. that's what they meant, I think. (note: we actually use Kilometers for distance though.) I did 980 miles a day from Oregon to L.A. Stopped twice to just get gas. other than that, i drove streight back to L.A., and I was washing the car around 4 am right after that. I guess I had too much coffee, or SVX didn't make me tired? Or, I couldn't stand seeing so many dead bugs on my SVX.

I am a pessimistic optimistic. I think the worst is going to happen, that way when it does, i don't feel as bad, but if the best happens, i am twice as happy.

Only 100.000miles? I will drive more than that!! As long as SVX runs, even if it breaks, I will drive my SVX forever!

You miss your 92, that means you are not driving SVX? or in some shop right now?

SVX Model

I can't believe how times have changed. No one has mentioned John R.'s wonderful SVX site and work. When he was 'involved' he created the FIRST SVX calander to be followed by the only comissioned SVX model that I've ever heard about.

I have a model as I'm sure a few member here do as well. Ours was designed and fabricated in England. Cast metal 1/36 I think. Mines about 5 inches long. We all paid for the design by confirming our orders.

Unfortunately John got busy doing other things and he had to stop sales and work on his great site. That was back in 2002. My model sits in a box waiting for me to continue working on it.

It's a shame that he didn't leave the instructions on-line with his beautiful models that he built.

The guy used my photos in a calendar without giving me anything in return (namely giving me a copy of the calendar) and never filled my order for models, no matter how many times he promised he would.

So it's not like I forgot to mention him.

I didn't even know A|W was still selling Alias. Or are they? I thought Maya replaced it.

I miss Maya sometimes. These days I have to use Max. Blech.

As far as I know, Alias/Wavefront is the name of the brand, and under that, they have "Maya" and "Studio tools".

I heard the Maya is good for animations and making some charactors. On the other hand, the studio tools is good for surfacing.
We somehow usually call the studio tools as Alias. Kinda confusing?

I used to use Alias(studio tools) at my school. Never used Maya.

I used a SVX orthographic view from JP cataologue. But it only has top and side view, so I had look for front and rear, non perspective view.
