Removing the rear bumper cover... how?

I was rear ended (slightly) and I didn't see any damage, so I didn't take the guys information. However, now that i look at it, I notice there's a pretty big gap between the 1/4 panels and the bumper.... I'm guessing hte cover just shifted a little. How do I remove the cover, so I can reinstall and tighten up that gap?

I never removed mine when I was rearended. I did have it repainted but spider cracks can still be seen in the bumper even after the repaint. I really hate spider cracks!

This is what's happened to my SVX. Anyone have an exploded view of how the bumper is attached?

Looks like you can't remove just the skin until the bumper is removed. Instructions state. 1) Lift the car and pull down the rear of the inner fender/liner and remove bolt each side from side of bumper. 2) Remove bracket (side LWR) from car body 3) Remove trim panel (trunk rear) and detach rear side of trunk trim (sides) 4) Remove rear wiper washer tank (right side only) 5) Remove nut from side of bumper (difficult to determine even with FSM diagram but appears to be under and to outside of spare tire well ) 6) Detach cap and remove bolts from bumper stays (in trunk floor) 7) Pull out bumper side mounting bolt from body (behind wheel well) 8) Slightly lift loose rear bumper to disengage hook from body, and take out bumper.

Yeah, actually. That must mean that the bolts are inside the trunk. Thanks! I'm going to try to just loosen all of them, have someone lift on the bumper, and tighten them down to eliminate the gap (hopefully)!

if you pop open the trunk, lift up the carpet
youll see to big rubber plugs on either side
Pop off the plugs and youll see 2 I believe
13/16s or like 18mm bolt heads. Theres no adjustment
there since the bolts go screw down into the frame.
If you remove all 4 bolts, and a few 10mm nuts in
both sides of the inner rear wheelwell from inside
the car, you can remove your bumper.

I havent found a good way to adjust it up though.
If it was hit hard enough, you may have to take it to a
frame shop for a few hours on the frame rack.

After getting the cover off you can put a jack under the bumper itself to adjust it upwards (worked on my Integra)

I took my bumper off today to build an integrated hitch. It was pretty easy getting off. For those of you trying this I think you will find your bumper will need some kind of straightening from being hit since there is a big piece of styrofoam in it and it ain't too structural like that! To help further I would think those little hooks they hang the bumper on to mount it might be bent slightly, or even off their hooks, making it impossible to get alignment. If anyone has trouble indentifying position of the bolts for removal, let me know and I will clarify.
