If your car is running strong why are you parting it out?

Probably the last thing anyone on here wants to hear but I'm pulling the engine to put into my VW camper. The SVX is a beautiful car - when I picked it up and drove home (about 2 hour drive), I had to keep reminding myself why I bought it and not to like it too much. I get why it has such a strong following. But I'm already commited to the van and I can't keep both.

Why not source an engine/harness/ECU that you need separately, especially since the SVX you have is also probably rust free?

My guesses:
He was able to by the whole svx for cheaper than just the engine...
A running motor that you can hear and drive is a safer bet than one you may have shipped to you...
Buying a running car lets you drive your new motor home instead paying shipping...
Parting out an SVX will make the engine that much cheaper by making back some money...

If my motor ever blows up, I would just buy a whole svx also...
It just makes sense too, they are so cheap now.

Yes it sucks he is going to destroy an SVX, but lets not pretend like buying a whole one was a bad idea.

And another one bites the dust... -1 SVX

If I wasn't so far away, I'd buy the whole car. I have a spare engine and have always wanted a Pearly to add to my collection.

Seriously suggesting here a straight up trade with another car, save the one with less rust/damage, part the other. Everyone wins.
