4 Subarus and today I got screwed

85 GL Hatchback 90k put on by me
94 Impreza 75k put on by me
95 SVX 55k put on by me
86 Brat 20k put on by me
Total of 240k miles without a breakdown until today. My SVX alternator I believe was what did me in. Had to walk 3 freaking miles (no one was home).

Happy Friday everyone!

PS anyone have a spare alternator they'd want to sell?

Had one sitting on a shelf for almost a year but lost it at the 10th meet for $30. Good luck finding a used one - the new ones are pretty expensive.

A good rebuild shop can rebuild the alternator for around 50 bucks. Since you've got several other vehicles to choose from, you could stand the down time to save the cost of new.

Check with Newsvx, he's parting out a 94 L.

My cavalier's alternator was the source of many strandings beside the road. I was a member of the alternator of the month club for about half a year.. That is until Bart at Lancaster Starter & Alternator built me an AMAZING alt. I dont remember what I payed, but that thing is awesome. I can run every possible accessory and the lights dont dim when I come to a stop. I highly recommend them.

ALternator

See 'The Subaru Guru' He's near Lancaster. He has some Amish guys who do GREAT WORK rebuilding Alternators. He had mine rebuilt when I had my engine replaced.

He is located near Strasburg I think... The locals seem to have mixed opinions about him. I've heard enough bad stories to not consiter taking my car there.
