Spark Plugs & Breather

I'm in the process of doing my valve cover gaskets and spark plugs. Do OEM spark plugs come pre-gapped? I heard if you try to gap platinum plugs yourself you may scratch off the platinum coating. I also opened the breathers on top of the valve covers to look for goo and found nothing. I thought there would be a piece of filtration material but there was nothing. Is this correct? Thanks for any help.

What? The valve cover breathers are clean???? How about that!
How unusual for any other car except the SVX < < < <
Oh yeah! That is one "tight" SVX engine you got there.
No blow-up past those piston rings blowing oil back-up into the intake.
Take a look inside the plastic intake hose.
See all that black gunk in there??? What you can't find it????
IT isn't there!!!!!
The only place that gets gunky is right after throttle plates.
This is were the low intake manifold pressure gets all the EGR flow.

Please change your PCV valve. The SVX has a GREAT crank case ventilation system.

What? Gap the plugs? The plugs I get always have THICK carboard ring around them. It's a good habit to check the plugs while at the dealer. Give'm the once over.... Well that one looks like it hit the wall

I recommend silicone grease, you know o-ring grease, all over the gaskets to prevent oxidation on the air side That way they don't dry out.

Take care,
John

Sorry my session expired and logging in again must have caused a double post. So commuter, do the breathers not have a filter in them? I already changed my PCV valve months ago, no gunk as far as the eye can see

So what's the scoop? Does checking the gap on platinum plugs damage their platinum coating? Do the breathers have a filtration material? I don't know why they would make the little housing and put nothing in it.

If you're careful it won't hurt to check the gaps but they will be pre-gapped for you.

No filtration in the breathers.
