yah, I'm not a big fan of the older gear boxes since the ratio pattern was designed around a 2L engine with a 8K rpm redline with a lighter car.

Though it might make sense again with the much stronger low end of the 3.3 Vs low compression 2.5.

That said the built auto is very very tempting given how cheap it is compared to what a 6spd swap could run by the time you get everything done right. I'm certainly not worried about the 3.545 final drive since more power solves all rear end ratios.

This thread in the NASIOC forum is interesting. A guy figured out a way to put '07 gears on older STi tranny.

Anyone here know if the '06 uses a large or small key way?
