Window Regulator Problem

On Tuesday night I installed a new P/W regulator assembly I'd just gotten from one of SVXfiles' parts cars. It worked fine all yesterday, but then today I put the window up, heard a loud pop, and it stopped working! It turns out that the cable was loose from the little rectangular plastic clip that connects it to the triangular regulator plate. Not only that, but that plastic clip had broken in 2 places where it connects to the regulator plate. Can I just remove the clip from my old regulator, and snap it in this one? And does anyone have any idea what might have caused it to fail? It seems like it must have been subjected to unusually strong tension.

This clip is a common item to fail as did mine. It is not a good design feature.

Yes, use your original part.

It could be that the plastic part has just become brittle and broke. These break now and then, but can be replaced.

Wow! That was the easiest fix ever! The clip just slid right out of the old regulator, and just as easily slid into the new one! I just hope that the failure was due to normal wear and tear, rather than some misalignment putting extra stress on the part. After all I don't have another clip handy if this one breaks. Thanks for the help!

The ones I have seen fail are brittle after years of use and temperature change. You can buy new ones and have a spare.
