Relay?

Guys, does the SVX use a fuel pump relay at all? This sounds very similar to a problem I had with my Chevy dually. I just popped in a new relay and it was done.

I definitely mean outstanding good! As an example, but keeping in mind I'm still having huge electrical problems myself: I was getting trouble codes for both solenoids a, and b in the transmission, also about 5 trouble codes from the ECU. I replaced the (Here's a new one..) I replaced the front wiper control unit, and that cleared up solenoids a, and b, and 2 of the engine codes. Your answer is probably right on the money.

Yep, the relay is under the dash.

Kermit graciously thanks you for the compliment.

It is usually very difficult to be definitive about electrical problems. In all car trouble, it's usually a smorgasbord of possibles and probables.

You eliminate the easy possibles, and work you way to running checks against the probables.

You can't say for definite it is Problem B until you have done a defining check, such as pulling a fuse or relay, which clearly indicates that particular circuit or loom. Process of elimination really.

Joe

Ouch! Kinda hard to explain without a diagram. Assuming you play the contortionist bit, and you climb under the steering wheel. If I over-explain, sorry 'bout dat.

You are looking up with your right shoulder pointing toward the drivers door.

Grab a flashlight.
Find the MPFI unit. It's a long rectangular aluminum box. It has 4 separate large yellow connectors going into it. In fact the whole length of the box is filled with these four yellow connectors, so looking to the right of the steering column, Its hard not to miss it.

You will see the MPFI unit is attached to an aluminum frame.

Reaching behind this frame, you will feel 2 connectors. One is the main relay(brown connector), and the other is the fuel relay(White connector). They are side by side, right next to each other, and the fuel relay is the one closest to the drivers door. (Did that make sense??)

It is connected to the aluminum frame by a round clip, so all you need to do is get your finger behind the connector and flip it off of the frame. It's a round relay that fits into the connector. The connector number is B51.

The fuel pump modulator is square box behind the back seat. It is right next to the fuel control resistor and right behind the rear wiper relay and the shoulder belt control unit.

You know, as an afterthought.

If you remove that leather cover attached below the steering column, and the accompanying metal frame it's attached to, you don't have to play the contortionist, touchy-feely game.

You can just reach over and grab the sucka. It's staring you right in the face with that cover taken off.

UPDATE-
Took out the ECUtune stage 1 chip and car ran perfectly for over a week, put it back in to see what happens, and supprise problem comes back..

Any ideas on what could be wrong with the chip? Im going to email ECUtune and see what they think and a possible return/exchange....

The noises you describe and the lack of check engine light with the key on do indicate that the ecu is not booted up propperly. It could be electrical or it could be your stage I adaptor. We've never had one go bad before but that doesn't mean it can't happen. If it's your problem just send it back with a note and your shipping address and we'll get a new one out to you. I'll put the adaptor in my car to see if it does the same thing and let you know what I find. I almost hope it is the adaptor so you don't have to continue the ominous search for electrical problems.
