Red 93 SVX on eBay w/66k, his story dosent mesh....anyone else?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...spagename=WDVW

I almost bid, and flew 3000 miles to pick this car up, however I ran a VIN check on it and the title history dosent mesh with his story.

Somethings not hitting me right. Anyone else? What troubles me to begin with as I kept re-reading it, is he starts it with.... "THIS IS A CAR ... "......Damn it! I thought this was that Japanese bobsled everyone was talking about.

Anyways...enought of my poor humor....on with my post.

Item description in auction:
"THIS IS A CAR ... VERY RARE ..ONLY ONE ON THE MARKET . THIS IS THE RAREST OF ALL SVX'S 1 OF ONLY 300 CARS IMPORTED TO THE US .. THIS ONE I GOT FROM A DEALER IN THE AUCTION WHO STATED IT WAS DISCOVERED IN AN ABANDONED BARN SO THATS WHY THE TITLE COMES UP SALVAGED ... ONCE SOMEONE IS PAID FULLY ON A CAR (THRU INSURANCE) ... FOR SOMETHING OF THIS AGE AND CONDITION IT REALLY DOESNT MATTER . HE SAID THE GENTLEMAN HAD IT IN STORAGE FOR YEARS AND AFTER HIS PASSING THE FAMILY DIDNT KNOW WHERE IT WAS STORED SO THEY CLAIMED IT ON THE INSURANCE .. THE CAR LOOKS AND RUNS GREAT ...BECAUSE IT HASNT BEEN USED MUCH ITS A LITTLE SLUGISH OFF THE LINE I DONT THINK ITS ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE ENGINE I THINK ITS A TRANS SHIFTING PROBLEM ....BUT ONCE IT GETS GOING ITS FINE I DROVE IT 45 MILES ON DAY AND IT WAS A-OK ... THE TIRES ARE NOT IN GREAT SHAPE SO IF ITS DRIVEN BACK TO YOUR HOME TOWN THEY SHOULD BE CHANGED ... BUT OVER- ALL CONDTION IS EXCELLENT ... ONLY 66K MILES AND LOOKS LIKE NEW ... THESE ARE COLLECTORS ITEMS ... AND WILL BE SOLD TO THE MOST FAIR BIDDER ... AND DONT FORGET I LOVE TO BUY TRADE-INS ANY YEAR ANY MILES ... TRY ME AT 9179395938 ...."

"IT WAS DISCOVERED IN AN ABANDONED BARN SO THATS WHY THE TITLE COMES UP SALVAGED" dosen't match up with the dates on the report. It was salvaged in 1998, and didn't sit for any amount of time until 2000.

03/31/2000 NJ Motor Vehicle Dept. REGISTRATION EVENT/RENEWAL
11/10/2004 EASTERN REGION 66,323 Auto Auction REPORTED AT AUTO AUCTION AS DEALER VEHICLE

I just got off the phone with him and he assured me that "It had not been in an accident, and if it has, I've never seen a repair job that looked that good. " I asked about the Salvage title on the Vehicle History report and the accident 03/22/2000 NJ State Agency RIGHT FRONT IMPACT WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE , he stated "Sometimes those things (reports) are inaccurate" .

I wish the guy would have been straight with me, I don't want to be shisted. I can deal with the Salvage title, I just want the truth....

Has anyone over on the East Coast seen this vehicle, or know of it? Or know of this dealer?

Its salvaged, why buy it? Probably hit, exchanged hands a couple times, and comes with a dead tranny.

I wanted a red one, with low miles. I can deal with the Tranny. I have a new one on the way with the Transgo Shift Kit in it (I should have it today or tommorow). I just had built at a trans shop in Phoenix...Now I just need an SVX to put it in!

it still has 35 minutes left, snag it for 4 grand and if the damage is very visible just don't pay for it, the pics dont show it looking damaged, go for it!

Well, I took it anyways...$3600, it's a gamble, but it fills my Red SVX need.

[Rubbing my chin, thinking] Now where can I find a black one.......

Twice?

Reading the CarFax report, it appeared to me that it was wrecked 2 times and definitely had a RECONSTRUCTED title which of course means it was totalled. Oh, and the fishy part was that the reconstructed title was issued in PA and all other reported titles before and after were NJ. Maybe easier in PA to reconstruct?

But good luck. Hope the repairs are good ones.

Congrats and good luck with the car, not a bad deal IMHO.

The car looks really nice, even if it was in an accident or 2.

Keep us posted and let us know how the car is.

So far my odds have been pretty good picking up these cars, 3 with high miles, and one low miles. No Transmission issues, no serious issues whatsoever and I've got them close to home. I just need it to make it home....still debating the Transport Co. vs. 3000 drive home......

Hey what's the verdict on the car? Is it sound? Back in your hands yet?

Congrats, you’re getting the same exact edition I have; it’s quite a rare one too with a guesstimated 600 sold in the US. I see that you’re building up quite a collection. Are you trying to compete with the likes of ensteele and another who has an even larger collection, I don't remember the username.

But you’re probably not interested in doing and why would you want to? You already have a ride that is probably worth more than yours, ensteele's and the other person's SVX collection combined. Anyway good luck with your purchase and hopefully it’s not too much of a dud, even though you probably don't care about that too much at the moment. At least from the pics on Ebay the body looks like it is in good condition. I also see that you have a 1992 Pearl SVX which in my opinion is one of the colors aside from silver that actually make the SVX look like a unique car, actually all the colors have their good points. I was looking to purchase one with 124k at one point but it had a fishy registration since it was left at a tranny shop by a guy who seemed to be not able to pay off for repairs. It was then sent to other franchise shop where I saw it and it ended up getting a tranny rebuild there. That coupled with the fact that it was inspected in Connecticut and not NJ, not to mention the people charge close to 5k, which ultimately turned me away from purchasing it. Then again you can't blame them since they are a small tranny repair shop and how hard plus expensive it is to get parts to rebuild the stock 4EAT. Since then it has been outside for 10 months through rain and snow. I actually feel sympathy for it. Well I hope someone buys it before spring because by then I am not sure if it would even make a decent parts car.
