am i seriously considering it because its getting tough to see through the pits. in colorado, if your windshield lasts more than one year before cracking, you should consider yourself lucky.

A true story

Years ago I was living in Wenatchee (Eastern Washington). It had been a particularly nasty winter...snow from early November to early April....and mind numbingly cold too.

Days and nights of fridged temps (-10 w/ wind chill), I left work one Sunday night and noticed it seemed warmer outside-this was the 1st winter in Wenatchee, so I wasn't accustomed to the weather-so thinking it was above freezing, I decided to pull into a 24 hour car wash. As I am spraying down the car, I noticed the water was turning to ice on my car and windows; not thinking it was really cold, I kept going, spraying on the soap, then finally washing off the soap. As I finished, I finally realized it may be colder out than I had thought. And before I left the car wash I had to scrap the windows!

On the way home, I passed by a sign saying it was 6 degrees!
A couple of the back windows had cracked, but thankfully not the front.

I'll be making a claim soon for my car. I have a chipped headlight, turn signal and windshield. The windshield cracked a couple days after the chip before I had a chance to do anything about it.

Hopefully I can get it all replaced.

I'd bet my bottom dollar that your crack propagated from a tiny ding or chip that you didn't notice; this car wash vs. that car wash probably had nothing to do with it.

I've had no-deductible glass-breakage coverage on my cars for years (thru Nationwide). It's covered two windshield replacements due to cracks, and one flawless repair of a "star"-type chip. Don't remember what it adds to my premium, but it isn't all that much. Worth checking out.

i had a $100 glass deductible with the former insurance company (farmers), but the new jokers (american family) don't offer it. hard to justify carrying low deductibles on an old car not worth a whole lot anymore.

Hey Tom, just peeked in on this thread and noticed you need someone to do a radio install. I can do it for you when I come up to do your seals. Just a thought, unless this is an outdated thread

Namah, Im not sure about where you are from but in Jersey there is an easy way to get a free windshield. Just go out and find a truck(dump truck) with rocks in it and note the plate# time of day and road you are on in that direction. Then file a claim that the truck dropped stones on your car and cracked the windshield. Just remember to say that it came out of the back not from underneath. Stones in tire are freak accidents but when a truck is carrying stone, they are liable if it falls out. JUst depends on how much your deductable is

^^^fixed your post^^^

Sounds like my pos caprice, you can't see them unless the sun is shining onto the windshield, then it's hard to see thru the windshield, oddly enough oncoming headlights don't have the same effect

Would this work in florida with bare minimum coverage. 10/20/10???just curious as the titanium is starting to peel back and the windshield in general looks pretty beat..
