instrument panel error?

Today, 5 April, 2018.

After I parked my SVX for 1 year, and first started on 31 March 2018,
second on 2 April and now is my third,

This time it started in Park, OK the first time. Run 12km, back, turn off and restart in Park, OK
Took the key out, waited awhile, started again in Park. OK.
All seems fine, no inhibitor sign.

But, for 3 times I warmed up, the speed shown seemed less than it should be, like speed show 70, but it’s as fast as 100km (my feeling)

Also, the tachometer show very low at 200-250rpm, when on red light, but the car idles fine,no shaking, sound normal.

Could it possible that the instrument panel is faulty? (for the car been parked most of its last 7-8 years,)

Note: I have not changed my oil for 7 years, (done 1-200km in 7 years). The oil is still very clear.

Re: instrument panel error?

Change the oil, 7 years, really!
Take it out for a good long drive and see how it reacts. There's GPS or phone apps to see your actual speed for comparison.

Yes really, almost 7 years.
Last oil change was 30 July 2010 @ 135,768km,
(12oct2010was@137,867km,,done2157km during first 3.5months after oil change.)
(the oil then should turned a bit brown, but it was clear like the picture shown of today)
I finally changed the oil on 14 April 2017 @ 138,020km. 6yrs. 8.5 mo.

Now, 8 Apr. 2018 @138,102km. 1 year after oil change, it looks like this. I have never seen oil so clear like this. in fact, in 7 years it has not changed, it look like this clear too.
My other cars, even milege less than svx,(80,000km)after change oil 5-600km,oil turns light brown already)
Even my other honda (20,000km),after change oil 2-300km,its turned light brown, not clear as this)
I just wonder why svx after 2157km(jul/2010-oct/2010) run,the oil still asclear as first put in)?

I can see it has been over-filled a little..

I will try clean throttle body myself to see.

Thanks

Re: instrument panel error?

If your not running the motor why would it get dirty. They don't change oil in the cans at the store. I have a hardware store in town that I bet has oil that old on the shelf.

Re: instrument panel error?

Same here. i put 138 miles on my SVX in the past 2 years, and about that in the 2 years prior.

Had a used oil analysis done by Blachstone labs. Based on my mileage, type of driving and number of drive-cycles, they said I could go 3 years without oil or filter changes.

But if I was uncomfortable with that, once a year unscrew the old oil filter and throw it away, fill a new one with fresh oil , screw it back in and run the engine for a couple of minutes. Add a bit of Lubegard as well.

Synthetics don’t deteriorate with just age.

Re: instrument panel error?

It is a ploy by auto dealers and the oil company. Sell oil and get that car into a dealer every 90 days. ( you need an air cleaner, cabin air filter ( love that one ) wiper blade, brakes, muffler bearings , change the air in your tires, battery, wheel alignment, gas cap gasket , flush the cooling system, flush the engine ) they always find something else. I put about 1,000 a year on mine. Last 3 years 500 total .

Did you fix it? I have the exact same problem here.
