interchangeable rims

Hey guys,

I have searched around and came across quite a few of stck rims from other models/makes but hadnt really seen what I have been curious about. Has anyone experimented with 5 x 114.3 rims from jeeps or dodge trucks. I have saw some of the wrangler bullet hole rims on some older model sylvias/ 240 and they looked pretty tight. I like the wide d-hole rims Ive seen from dodge and ford with same lug pattern as well. All the rims I have taken an interest in have same lug pattern and a slightly larger center bore. Most are a bit wider than the stock SVX rim. Some are 15", some 16", and some larger. Im not 100% certain on the offset values tho. Any thoughts on trying these out? Are there any other measurements I should look into before grabbing a set to try?

Check here: http://www.roadkillcustoms.com/hot-r...#axzz2rF94YfFe

Offset is very important, it needs to be high. No 15 inch rims will fit.

Re: interchangeable rims

cool deal, appreciate the link. How efficient are center bore adaptors for rims with a larger center bore? Ive actually never used them.

Re: interchangeable rims

Hubcentric rings work very well, cheap too. I'm using 6 sets on my fleet of cars.

Re: interchangeable rims

The biggest thing with the high offset is the fenders, Lower offset can rub, some people have rolled the fenders and gone no problem, but if its too much the tire/rim will actually stick out past the edge of the fender.

Re: interchangeable rims

I actually just came across these bad boys.

http://roanoke.craigslist.org/pts/4306519302.html

I have saw some Lexus wheels on the SVX before but not these. These are from a Lexus GS400, possibly year '98+. Im pretty sure the center bore on these is 60.1 with same lug pattern as SVX. However, I cant find any info on the offset.

Any thoughts?

Re: interchangeable rims

According to the link I posted the offset is high, bore 60.1 and bolt pattern is 114.3 so they should work just fine. The tire size is perfect too as long as they all are within 1/4 inch of each other in circumference.

Re: interchangeable rims

Thanks a bunch, guys. Ima pick those rims up today for $150. Not too shabby I must say. I prob wont get them installed for a few weeks. I may even re-finish them before the install. Ill try to get a before and after shot uploaded on here after the install.

Re: interchangeable rims

Just an FYI.. If you want to run 18' rims, the ones from a Mazda RX8 are a bolt on, as long as the tire is a 40 series. A viable alternative if having a Mazda logo in the center of the rim doesn't bug you

Re: interchangeable rims

Those rx-8 wheels look bad a**! I had considered those, but couldnt find any deals on them around here. Obviously EBAY has them but cost a freakin arm and a leg. Im happy with the lexus 17's" I picked up. Only thing I dont care much for is the chrome plating. It seems to be peeling off quite a bit more on the back side and starting to come through to the face. Looks like the salt from the road has eaten them up. Any suggestions on removing the rest of the plating for painting? Sandblasting? Any luck with chemicals for chrome removal?

Re: interchangeable rims

Sandblasting is the way to go. Then get them powder coated, it's much more durable than paint.

Re: interchangeable rims

RX8 rims on my 92 Teal..235/40-18 Falken PT 722's with no rub problem, albeit the backseat never sees a load.
