Reading 14 Tech/How To session

I would like to set up something for Saturday afternoon. Does anyone have any requests, or even better does anyone want to volunteer to host/instruct one. We're not looking for timing belt or transmission swap. Ideally this would be for something that can be done on your own in 15-30 minutes.

Re: Reading 14 Tech/How To session

Nate.....? lol.

I could run one with my car. There are much more knowledgeable members of this forum than me, but I've taken apart/reassembled/swapped nearly every part of my car in some way.

What sort of topics could we have?

-Oil change (Annoying to do in a parking lot, having to bring oil catching pan, getting rid of used oil...)
-Brake change (Remove/re-install demo, unless someone has brakes they want changed.)
-Reading codes
-Seasonal wheel swap
-Air filter change
-Others...?

Obviously we would need a jack, jackstands, and tools. And in my car, 2x4's to drive the car onto first, since there aren't many jacks that can get under my car.

Re: Reading 14 Tech/How To session

Not sure about the oil change, but the others are good ideas.

I'd rather not rely on Nate or Tom as this should be a vaction from their job of working on SVX's.

Re: Reading 14 Tech/How To session

Dave,

How about just opening the floor to those planning on attending and what they'd like to see in the way of "how to" and then figure out which ones are reasonable? The reading codes and brake pad replacement are good ones.

Re: Reading 14 Tech/How To session

Reading codes I think is definitely important. It's too easy not to bother doing. Seafoam might be worth trying too.

Also, I would not mind letting someone trustworthy borrow my ecutuner cable to do some diagnostics or just to mess around with.

A Seafoam how-to would be cool.

And would probably be frowned upon by the hotel.

Headlight buffing would be easy and non-invasive.

I'll pick up the sand paper, rubbing compound, and headlight sealant. Anyone have a small spare water bucket?
