As a side issue what sort of signal is from the TCU connection - as it goes through (I presume a high voltage diode before the lower zener?).

U1 is just an oscillator with C2/R4 creating a triangle wave & R3 doing a pseudo PWM - still unsure how this varies to give the various dimmer settings, hence question abouve about TCU.

Let me know if you want me to correct the schematic (give me details as ref-designators Vs values).
Ok, this is getting a little too deep for me!
I'm thinking the only way the supply rails could have gotten swapped is when the remote starter was installed maybe someone was hooking things up with the battery connected and accidentally touched two wires together. No wires were actually cut when it was installed.

That schematic is good enough for me but if you want I can give you the values of the components for future reference.

I think I'm just going to try putting another 5225 in there for now and see if it works. Also, I got another board (with no blown tracks ) from Bobby (sicksubie) so I'll try that one with a small fuse to make sure I don't fry this board too!

I'll let you know what happens, but it might not be for a little bit. Our driveway is like 8 inches of mud right now, so I can't do much test driving with my car.

SVX8588

- I will be happy to add/modify the schematic to give it correct values etc, just email me at -

surtees@xtra.co.nz
or
stephen.surtees@rakon.com

with the reference number (R1, C4 etc together with the value or part number).

We can then post it up on the electrical information section.

Re: Help, No Power! (power mode, that is)

I'll just post it up here if that's ok. I've been busy and am just now getting an chance to do this

Resistors first:

R1: 10k
R2: 10k
R3: 10k
R4: 75k
R5: 510 ohms. This doesn't seem like a normal value.
R6: 1k
R7: 620 ohms 2 watt
R8: 620 same ^^
R9: 1k
R10: 620 1 watt
R11: 511? Is the number printed on the blue resistors the actual value?
R12: why is there no R12?
R13: 10k
R14: 1k

When I get a chance I'll do the rest of the components.

POWER is back :D

Here's the rest. I got a good dimmer board and put that in and it worked, so I won't be needing to fix this one right away. I will probably try to get a new diode at some point anyway.

Thanks Harvey and Steve for all the help! Guys like you make this forum awesome.

Diodes:

D1: 10B3
D2: T8 1G
D3: T8 1G
D4: T S5225 1K
D5: 3.0B1
D6: TG 1.1 ? I couldn't tell what the last number was...

Capacitors:

C1: 25v 10uF
C2: T 104
C3: 104

P.S. if the numbers from some of these components don't seem correct, let me know. I may have misread one or two...

Smile Re: Help, No Power! (power mode, that is)

OK here is the updated schematic - the only outstanding part is the inductor feeding the power supply, everything else is as per updates in previous comments.

I have renamed R14 to R12.

Let me know if I have left anything else out.

Maybe we should place it onto the documents area? in order that it is easier to find for the future .....

Re: Help, No Power! (power mode, that is)

I'm not sure how to read the inductor.

It just has one fat blue stripe on one end, a thin blue stripe in the middle, and a thin brown stripe toward the other end. If you want a close up pic, let me know.

Everything else looks good.

Putting in the documents area is a good idea. Do we have to get a mod to do this for us?
