Manual Trans Question

Hey all. I'm still alive

My SVX engine has been sitting in the garage while I've been tinkering with a few odds and ends along with replacing the steering rack, vacuum hoses and such. I notice my trans appears to be leaking out of the passenger axle stub. If memory serves me right these seals need to be pressed out? And on a manual trans the front diff shares the same gear oil as the whole trans?

Hopefully I"ll be back on the road in time for Reading

Re: Manual Trans Question

I was just thinking about you the other day and if you still had your SVX.

Yes the gear fluid is the same throughout the entire trans.

As for the seal, I haven't replaced, but I think they can be removed/replaced like the oil seals on the front of the engine.

Re: Manual Trans Question

I still have it. It hadn't been driven in 6 months. Having some rust issues in the rear 1/4 but right before that my steering rack decided to bleed out fluid from the rear hoses and the boots were shot.

Engine is out for replacing all the vacuum lines underneath the plenum and cleaned. Did the timing belt, plugs, water pump, idler pullies, PCV valve.

Also replaced the CV Axle.

A lot of these things I would have paid to have done in the past but have been doing it by myself with my friends. It's taken a lot of patience but should be on the road again this year. I still need some parts here and there. I really miss driving the SVX. This has been moved to my project car status while I start looking for a new DD.

Hope all is well with everyone

Re: Manual Trans Question

Ironically, googling the replacement of it puled up a thread you were a part of

http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/...ad.php?t=78975

Looks a little more difficult than I'd like to venture out for.

Re: Manual Trans Question

Hey Nate. I should be good. Unless you want to send some random nuts and bolts
