Re: rad fans stay on
Your fan sensor . I believe it is near the bottom of the radiator . You don't have the climate control on or the defroster right

Re: rad fans stay on
Coolant temp sensor is a possibility.

Re: rad fans stay on
i second that. after moving around stuff in the engine bay my fans were staying on and it turned out to be the coolant sensor connector had come off.

Re: rad fans stay on
No, there is one for the ECU which controls the fans and the air/fuel mixture, etc. and there is one for the gauge cluster.

Re: rad fans stay on
It was an 83 GL wagon. You call it a sensor or a what ever It is in the coolant and when it gets hot it turns the fan on . So chastise me for calling a FAN sensor .I stand corrected it is a coolant temp. sensor

Re: rad fans stay on
It actually does quite a bit more than turn on the fan. It's also not in the radiator, but rather in the top of the engine block. Subaru did change one or two things between the 1983 GL wagon and the SVX.

Re: rad fans stay on
Would a bad temp sensor cause the fans to just come on more often? My fans aren't staying on but seem to be turning on and off more than usual, especially considering the high temps have only been in the 40's.
They both come on right away when the car is started and I've watched as they would turn on then off for a few moments then back on again. I replaced the temp sensor probably 2 yrs ago. Seems kinda early for it to go bad again. |
