Re: next car
The Volvo 850 has been one of my better low-budget, comfortable daily drivers. I do a lot of commuting and also a lot of city driving and my 850 wagon has been consistently reliable.
If I could stretch my budget for a reasonable daily driver, I'd likely be in a V50 T5 or a C30, but I'm a bit strapped with going back to school, so I imagine its possible that I'll clock 240-250k on the 850 before I give it up.

Re: next car
i bought a 1996 cadillac sts a couple months before i bought the svx and it was a great car. it's about 6 inches longer than the svx weighs slightly less and gets 26mpg city. huge room and 300hp for a car that cost 6 grand, it was a great buy considering the original sales sticker that came with it claimed $66k

Re: next car
well sts must not be for you. mine seemed well built and never had a problem. auto trans sucked and cornering was like driving an elephant. i followed my wife home from the mountains in it when we bought the svx, around the canyon i could hardly keep it on the road trying to keep up but every time it went straight i could be up on her bumper in a matter of seconds.
