Thank you John. I never mind learning, sometimes, regrettably what I may have already known or assumed, and forgotten. I'm also saved the frustration of searching for an "R" I just know will be there!

The cool keyless entry that your talking about mike (green1995svx) is the 'morse code' entry system, and the IR key.

That pic does not look like that system to me. For one, I have only seen it on RHD. I thought the RI system was more of a little square on the door handle, not that little slot thing.

Correct me??

James

Very nice car. Glad to see other parts of the world get to enjoy them as well.

Car looks good. I've never seen one with that front bumper cover. Of course, there are many things I have never seen though.

I guess the previous owner inserted those fog lights there...

OK James. If you insist.

The keyless entry system that you describe as 'morse code' is only fitted to Japanese Market vehicles. These JDM cars are RHD by default, but that does not imply that all RHD cars get the system, because they don't. It is only fitted to Japanese market cars and Australia market cars. When you lift the driver's door handle and the keyless entry system is installed, you will hear a 'bleep' inside the car. If you don't hear a bleep, the system is not there.

That little slot thing on the driver's door is on JDM cars, plus it is on Euro cars, either RHD or LHD. The slot is for the Infra Red locking system, the receptor is behind the slot.

Now I have two Euro cars here, both RHD English models. Both are supplied with the Subaru IR equipped key. However I can't confirm if the IR system works, as each car has been fitted with an aftermarket alarm system. I'm presuming that when the alarms were wired in that they incorporated the central locking wiring to the alarms, that's they way you would have to do it.

Strangely enough, the English Owner's Manual I have does not mention IR entry or keys at all. It would be interesting to see if it works, even though it's not in the manual. I might fit a new battery in one of the keys and see what if anything happens.

Pffft. Your father smelt of elderberries. I fart in your general direction. Now go away or I shall taunt you a second time.

Well THANK YOU for clarifying that for me. I actually thought the IR system and the morse code system were part of the same system.

Its good to be informed otherwise

Re: [PICTURES] My Subaru Alcyone SVX '94 by Giugiaro

Joe, I have the same system in my car, used to work in the past, then at one time I had to unplug the alarm CPU and plug it again and it is not working anymore

Yes I still hear a beep when I lift the handle while the door is locked but the IR thing is not working anymore. Maybe it needs reprogramming...

My SVX key/alarm button is integrated within the key. I only have one button that used to lock/unlock the doors and it gets reception through that tiny hole in the handle.

Can someone please post a picture of that key/alarm thing of the Euro SVX? Well it seems that GCC SVXi have options from US/Euro SVXi...

Also found out recently that they came with the amber corners rather than the clear ones (except Lebanese SVXi )

Danny, it sounds like your car has both IR entry via the key, and also the keyless entry module installed. When you unplugged it the system 'forgot' the code. Instructions are on here how to reprogram a new code.

A broad square key fob that momentarily lights a red LED as it fires the IR signal? My JDM one used to work like that [it had no alarm, apparently they don't steal cars in Japan] The key had to be near the slot in the handle for it to work.

When I get a chance I'll photograph the better of the two keys for you, and post the photos.

It's surprising some of the changes that apply to different markets.

Yeah, now I see. Upon a quick glance earlier, it looked to me like the fogs were molded into the bumper, a'la the mythical ('98 style) front bumper. Now I see that it was just cut out. They did a good job though, had me fooled. Not your everyday foglight hack-job.

Re: [PICTURES] My Subaru Alcyone SVX '94 by Giugiaro

Thank you very much for your answers, one of my friends helps me to replace the wheels, do not worry, in short, the cap of the oil is leaking power steering and fell on the engine because the previous owner has put too much oil because there is a leak at steering rack. I do not know how to remove oil on the engine.

Some pictures of the inside:

Pierre

That car of yours is in supremely nice condition, all over. You are one lucky sod to have found such a good car.

It is not too difficult to remove engine oil or any kind of grease from the engine. I use a product called Tetrosyl Engine Cleaner, but there are a number of products that will do the job.

How they work is you brush them on to a warm [not too hot, just warm] engine. Let them sit for a bit, then wash off with water. Voila!, your grease and oil is gone.
[Naturally you have to be careful not to power wash into the fuse box or into electrical components. Just do it carefully]

Joe

Welcome to the site!
I've always loved the pearlies. Wish mine was mint condition like yours!

I was working in Poissy, France for 3 months while ago, but never seen a single SVX over there. Then again, hardly seen JPN cars or US cars either. It must be really rare to own SVX in France. Enjoy it and take good care. The car is awesome.
