Can I amplify keyfob signal?

Since Christmas, I've had an electric key fob. I use it daily to lock/unlock the vehicle just like everyone else. It was bought from the dealership and is, thankfully, one of the newer models. Looks the same on the outside but not on the inside.

Anyway, on to the point. From what I've noticed so far, if I'm turned a certain way, if I'm not aiming at the car sometimes, or if I'm more than three car lengths away, my keyless entry will not engage. I can't lock or unlock.. Also, sometimes, when there is a car between me and my car and I try to unlock, the signal seems like it's blocked! Is there any way I can amplify the signal from the key fob or from inside the car without compromising the system? I'd love to be able to set off my alarm from more than 6 feet away sometimes..

Thanks for the assistance in advance!

Touch the fob to your chin as you are hitting the button. This is proven to amplify the signal.

the vast empty space inside your skull helps to amplify the signal.

doesn't work for all people, but i'm positive you will be able to unlock it from miles away using this technique.

Re: Can I amplify keyfob signal?

I have read this before on touching your chin with the remote, and intended to try it, but I hardly ever hit the button until I'm right up on the car. I don't know why that is, but I guess as long as it unlocks the door before I have to use the key, it's good enough for me. My remote is still the original, btw, with a gaping hole in the front of it and the plastic worn all around the metal inserts that the screws go into. Need to do something about that.

I could see this chintenna approach being profitable, however, in the form of a nice friendly wager. Just be sure your friend has never seen you use your chin before.

Re: Can I amplify keyfob signal?

Well why it may not be what I expected what so ever, it certainly is a valid answer. I'll try this when I go out to lunch. Thanks for the help!

Also, if anyone could find out the actual science behind this, I'd be very interested to read it.

Post Pictures later, from different angles, please!

(Possibly the battery is the problem.)

Re: Can I amplify keyfob signal?

It works even better if your open your mouth a bit while touching the remote to your chin.

I never believed it 'til I tried it. It, like, triples the range. But people in parking lots give you strange looks.

Re: Can I amplify keyfob signal?

Personally, I think you guys are just full of it BUT maybe the skull (empty or not) improves the capacitive reactance of the internal antenna?? I think the folks here just want you to chin your keyfob all the time (see pics request below)
