Door Handles & Locks

G'day,

To assist in my beautification of my SVX, I may require a new drivers door handle and lock. It looks as if my SVX has been broken into at some stage in it's 16 years in this country and the lock on the driver's side is "gaping" and requires a bit of a jiggle to unlock.

It also looks like the ignition has been "worked on" by someone without the key....

Now, is this something "uber rare" or can I take it to Subaru or a lock specialist to have looked at?

P.S. My SVX is not the KEYLESS remote type, it's a '92. I intend on installing some amazing new alarm system that will do all that soon.

Thanks in advance,

Mike

Check wreckers for a steering column and barrels for the door handles; The steering column can be done by a decent auto-electrician as most of them have experience, although it's a sizeable job. The doors are even easier.

To be honest though, I'd get all those parts and have the alarm installer do the whole thing. He'll need access inside the door trims anyway, so it's not too much hard work. The steering column he may also be working on as well depending on your alarm system, so it's a case of two sentences: "While you are there..." and "For a carton of beer...". Alternatively he might actually charge you money, so be it

Re: Door Handles & Locks

I wouldn't call one of 249 rare at all, you might be lucky and find the lock is similar to a liberty one, the keys are the same so the locks could be
