I would be very careful here. If it doesn't have a proper title, the VIN will tell the truth. If you get caught with the wrong tags on it, you will not be happy.

Re: Waste of a SVX, Need Help.

well, heres what i had to do with a friend that stiffed me on a car i bought from him that he never gave me the title. go to your local dmv, grab the form for a lost title(usually the same as the one to register a car for the first time) and also get the permission form to pick up a title for someone else. fill them both out, forge signatures, and voila, your good to go. i know for a fact this will work...

oh yeah, you need theyre info, name and address and birthday. the internet can go a loooong way....

seriously. my 92 jetta has already passed hands from me to my brother...
but im not condoning illegal activity... just thinking out loud

Well... changing the VINs will also work

(I did it on my old Green VW MK1)

Re: Waste of a SVX, Need Help.

If no title can be had, is it possible that as a last resort the salvage yard would be willing to break the car rather than crush it? It's worth way more as parts than as scrap.

The guy gave me my deposit back, but he'll be calling me first before they do anything to the car. I could use a spare engine, some glass and whatnot.

And when the car has a lien against it then your looking at 5 years in a federal prision.

Re: Waste of a SVX, Need Help.

yeah, i know, but im still here sitting in front of my computer, he didnt care i did that, but then again, i know the guy.

you really want this car?
1. find the guy/girl. find the owner. see what the deal is.
2. get a salvage title. i know these are all options in wisconsin, asi know people who have done that, and rebuilt wrecked cars/bikes. i dont know about your area though.

if you really wanted it bad, its not hard tracking owners, ive done it before for my dad, there was an abandoned 59 or so thunderbird that sat for about 15 years, i found the guy, he was shocked that the car was even still around. he gave us the title for 200 dollars for lost time at work to head to the dmv and file for a lost title.

if you really want it, its yours, it will just take some effort

Re: Waste of a SVX, Need Help.

not to mention, it says at the bottom of the title, give the dmv a vin, they can tell you if it has a lean. hell, ive stamped lien releases for my old job.
