ecutune stage one

I just got an ecutune stage one version 3 from my buddy (mine's a 94 svx lsi). I couldn't find out what the difference between the odd and even chips were. From what I've read they use two different codes. Does anyone know the details of the different codes? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Pat

The even and odd are referring to the memory locations the code is stored in. You need to have both chips installed in the right place for it to work.

If you wire up the red wire it will run the chip on the 87 octane code. if you leave the wire disconnected it will run the performance code.

So in order to make it work right, I have to have the Subaru Memory Adaptor +N2O control? All I have is the two chips. My buddy made it sound like I would be able just have one installed at a time, and if i wanted to switch them out, I would have to take the unit out to do a swap.

Yes, you need the adapter for it to work.
When installed in your ECU it should look like this

Thanks beefcake, that's what I was afraid of, but couldn't find that information on ecutunes site to verify it. I'm gonna try to contact ecutune.com, and ask if they sell parts separately. Does anyone know of another method or website if they won't sell individual parts?

All help is appreciated :-)

Thanks,
Pat

Any idea what the little white riser board in the bottom left corner of the ECU is? The one labelled HIC-2(ALT/S). The ECU's I am working on don't have that fitted.

The board would have to come from ecutune they are the ones that made them.

The guys at ECUTune will probably not sell anything separately. Otherwise, anyone who upgraded from 1v2, v3, v4 etc. could sell their old chips.

If I'm not mistaken, it looks like a pressure sensor for establishing the Barometric pressure.

Yeah, I think you are right.

The USDM ECU and TCU both read the atmospheric pressure sensor, but the UK and JDM unit's don't bother with it.

Which is exactly what happened here, unless I'm very much mistaken.

well, at least i didn't pay for it. my friend gave it to me for free, as he saw no use for it. He thought I might have been able to get around the network adapter, but oh well. thanks guys
