Reversing "Beeper"

I'll post this here as the JDM brains trust seems to be concentrated here downunder..................
I have a '95 JDM model that has a beeper when you select reverse, it is only inside (in the dash somewhere) and not audible outside the car, is this standard? and how do I kill it (it annoys me).

The audio warning is manadory here in Japan along with sounding your horn before backing up. It is a little hard to get use to but you can never be too safe. As a pedestrian it truly gets your attention and I'm sure it has saved many accidents!!

Maybe the outside beeper has been disabled.

those things are great. we played a joke on my brother with the ones that are a part of the reverse light bulb(really loud), we put it on his new Lexus without him knowing, sounded like a forklift backing up....he was like "WTF!!!!!!" every time he backed up. he thought something was broken and took it to the dealership after like 3 weeks of being pointed and laughed at in parking lots. best part, lexus techs acused him of putting it in(not covered under warranty) and wanted to charge him an hour of troubleshooting when it really took them like 5 min! he didn't end up paying anything though.

I have been trying to think of who I can do this to since reading your post. I am currently thinking that my best friends wife's car would be the perfect candidate as I have a key to their house and could sneak in and get the car keys without them knowing it. This would be payback for him breaking into my place twice to surprise me.

sounds perfect, it litteraly takes 2 minutes, 5 bucks(good for multiple uses), it's totally harmless(actually safer), and good for days on days of entertainment. hardest part is keeping a straight face for so long

I think that this is an official hijack.

Sorry Hairy.
Itsa no worry, the other thread was started by edmsvx in Canadia, it was too much of a coincidence not to add my two cents worth.

I met with Surteess today and apparantley in Nepal they have those reversing bulbs except they play Nepalese folk music.

Personally I think the best dirty trick to play on someone elses car is a squirt of brake fluid up their exhaust, you would not believe how much smoke it makes when it heats up.

OMG, one that plays music could be even funnier, but it would prob be too obvious though. to the car challenged driver the beep could be something rubbing in the brakes.
