u can try cleaning it before you do anything else. They sell a product specific to that use at any parts store.

I sprayed the element no luck car kept craping out. The manual has a inspection procedure for cheaking voltage and ohms of ecu and maf but the car will run so wouldnt these values be correct. should i just replace maf or are these other inspections recomended

My last MAF issue actually ended up being a bad ground wire, had to replace a section of wire. If you don't suspect the wiring though, I grabbed my stock known good MAF the other night and have it sitting right next to me.

Check out your wires and then make me an offer if you want to give it a shot.

Or if there is someone near you to swap with, that is another way to determine if it is the MAF or wire.

The car is very clean and well maintained so i suspect no terminial corosion. why do you have a extra stock MAF, what are you curently using is there cheaper solution.I was quoted 260$ for MAF is that high

sounds average.
my stock MAF is fine, I am using a z32 MAF, but you need the stage 2 chip and different fuel injectors to match my setup... about $800 if you do it yourself and get the right prices on used parts
