Tire Thread Direction
I just noticed that the threads on one side of my car are facing one way and the ones on the other side are facing the other way. Its hard to explain but the lines are curved towards the front on one side and towards the rear on the other side. Is that a problem?

Some tires are meant to be directional. Look on the sidewall for an arrow marking the direction of rotation.

I looked for that arrow and didn't see one, so does that mean it doesn't matter what direction the threads are?

Thats what I was wondering about. I guess I will take it to a tire shop and ask them.

if the tire doesn't have a directional marker(arrow, pointer, etc) or have a marking on the sidewall that actually says "Outside" then the tire is a bi-directional tire and can be mounted anywhere on the car
On our snow rally cars and ice racer DT class cars that we're not allowed to run Menards on(1/2" long studded ice tires) we run our regular unidirectional snow radials backwards on the rear. Helps the car step out easy on short closed loop courses |
