Exclamation rattle in da cat

alright, before i get all dirty and stuff, i have to know, im getting a rattle from my 3rd cat, its pritty bad, enough so that it changes the tone of my exhuast.... well ive had the 2 front o2 sesnors replaced and ive noticed that the previous owner must have went over a curb or sumthin cuzz the heat shields have huge indentations and scrapes, but my point is, is it worth the time to see if my 3rd cat is bad or not? would this be a problem for my bad hesitation and back firing?? i do have a vacum gauge hooked up to my intake so if someone could tell me how to read it to see if my exhuast is plugged up or sumthin that would be great, thanks

Its probably the heat shields that are rattleing. You will have to get under the car and tap around to find which one. They all bolt together, but can be removed in pieces. I had a piece that was doing that and I just stuffed a bolt in it for now.
