Idiots

So my parents bought a brand new Ford F150 Quad Cab, we've only had it for 3-4 weeks.......and its already been broken into. This is actually the first time we've ever had one of our vehicles broken into and of course it has to be when we have a nice new TRUCK. For those of you at the SVX meet on saturday you know when it happened. My parents thought they just left the truck unlocked but just now as my mom was leaving to go somewhere she calls me and says to come outside. So I get out there and the molding around the handle/door lock is cracked and the lock is actually pushed into the door, theres a nice big dent right underneath from the persons prybar/screwdriver where it hit the door and the paint is chipped near the molding. Its a good thing theres only receipts and napkins in the truck and nothing to steal.

Sorry to hear that man, the title of the thread fits seeing as there was nothing to steal anyway.

I agree i even have to scold my friends sometimes for locking the doors in the svx out of habit, i have to remind them that anything in the car will be alot cheaper to replace than the windows.

Yup. Don't lock the doors, don't leave anything more valuable than some change in the car. If they really want to get in, they'll get in. I'd rather they didn't damage anything making their entry.

I do set the alarm though (aftermarket). It goes off if the doors are opened.

And now to get my iPod out of the car...

bummer to hear.

Leaving car unlocked doesn't always work though... I had a 2001 cavalier living in texas, and i never locked it, nor did i leave anything in it. I had a cheap-o 10$ cb radio with magnet mount antenna, not really "installed" but just kinda there and plugged into cigarette lighter. THe car was unlocked, yet the person broke the plastic frame around the window, broke the glass, and gained access. Then,t hey grabbed the cb radio, slammed the door, and ran, with the wire for the antenna in the door jam, nothing actually holding it there but the door, so thtey yanked til they ripped the wire off, probably distroying the cb radio in the process. Turns out it was cheaper to just get a whole new door than to get it repaired, the plastic and glass were pricy. Plus insurance wouldnt' cover it, so bleh. I rolled to junk yard and grabbed a green door, and put it on my silver cavalier, and drove it that way for 6 months. Same model and stuff so the interior panels bolted right up. Was gonna get it painted, but the car sucked anyways, so i figured why bother.

Don't think door locks will get in the way of an idiot...

Agreed though, there's nothing i could keep in my svx that is worth more than the cost of a window replacement.
